You should have introduced yourself Panda. I was the dude in the race suit with way too much hair It snapped the fan belt in the final and overheated and I thought it had blew the head gasket but when we pulled the head off there was no sign of it being blown. So I guess we'll just put it back together with a new gasket and hope it's ok. The engine was only a quick slap together job after I cracked the block at the last round so that explains a little bit of the smoke. Most of it is from stuffed turbo seals though. The turbo is on it's way to Melbourne to get them fixed before the next round. I'm always keen for photos of the old girl in action thanks mate. I'll send you a pm with my e-mail address.

Hey Dewy, glad to see you found the forum. Have you decided what sort of diff you're going to put under the old girl? I'm running at Symmons this weekend. Heading to Baskerville tomorrow arvo to test the new rear brakes.
Trackspec, I'd love one of those OS Giken heads. Not only are they twin cam but they're also cross flow which would work much nicer with my intercooler piping. From what I've read on the net there were 10 made and out of them there's only about 3 left which are usable. I think I'd have to sell my car to buy one.................Which would make it kinda useless...........

or sell the missus car.... Only 3 left! didn't know that, be better converting to rb25 or something Yeah, RB would be the way to go if I ever want to make huge power. Then again, the engine I have could produce a lot more with decent engine management and more boost. Dewy, the weldy should be fine. Mine would be better with an LSD but as long as you get the suspension right then it will be ok with the weldy. Might just have to run the rear a little stiffer to get it to turn in. Who are you getting the cage through? Bond cages in Sydney? Who's welding it in for you? New brakes felt awesome. R32 callipers on Z31 ventilated discs. I've still got the R31 brakes and will hold onto them until I'm sure I'm happy with the new setup. After that I'll sell them if you want them.

Shane,
I have just been reading the general chat discussion on this forum.
Seeming you are the upmost expert on the L28ET motor in Tasmania.
I have a:
1975 Datsun 260Z Turbo L28 5 Speed 2+2 2.8L "L Series motor" P90 Fuel Injected Head American Block possibly a F54 Rocker Cover "with TURBO embossed on it" Medium Cam Turbo not sure what kind. Button Clutch Close Ratio 5 Speed Racing gear box Cold Air Induction "in front of radiator"
I need some help.
My engine has been sitting in my car for a few years now. I need a new fuel regulator. I think i need one that can be set at 2.5bar?
I am looking at doing a rebuild on this engine fairly soon. I know you are busy working on your engine.
But I was wondering with some monetry compensation. you would rebuild my engine for me. The money could help with your racing. I am in no hurry for the rebuild to be done it could take 6 months for all I care.
Have a think about it and tell me what you think?

Welcome to the forum Chicken Hunter. Looks like you really love your Zed cars! If you're ever chasing up parts let me know and I'll give you the number of a guy who has just about anything you could want. You may already know him. Unfortunately the fuel system on my car is one of the few things that I haven't touched since I bought it so I'm not actually sure what type of regulator it runs. Pretty much anything that hasn't caused a problem has been left the way the previous owner had it. If you're after a rebuild you've got the wrong man sorry. I do a fair bit of work on the car but anything too technical like engine assembly is done by my dad and he's no performance expert either. Only reason we build the engines ourselves is because I can't afford to pay somebody to do it There are no special tricks with my engine. The previous engine as described in the initial post of this thread produced 174 rwkw and was as basic as you could get internally and only running 10psi. The engine I run now has a P90 head and forged pistons but is still pretty much the same setup and produces similar power. Basically, a 2.8 litre engine with a turbo in a light car like a Z is going to go pretty hard without too much effort. Did I see in another one of your posts that your engine runs an LD28 crank? I would love to build a stroker turbo engine one day but those cranks are so expensive to get hold of. The extra response and torque would be very handy. Sounds like your engine has all the right bits. Shouldn't be too hard to find somebody to put that together to make good power. Mathew from Tas Engine Reconditioning has been great to me with any machine work I've needed done and might be a good option? If you have any questions along the way then let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. I got your e-mail with the engine calculator. It's a very handy little tool. Used it to work out what needed to be done to get the desired compression ratio with the engine I'm running now. If you're ever at the racing at Baskerville or Symmons Plains then come down to the pits and introduce yourself. If you have a good look over my car it might give you some ideas for your build. And yes I am a member of auszcar under the same username. Good luck with the build, will look forward to seeing the finished project.

Nice My car was painted by a mate of mine so it cost me next to nothing other than the materials. If you see the car up close you'll see it's not a perfect job but I didn't want to go to too much effort and expense for a race car. We only did about one day of prep work on the car but it turned out ok. The guy is a very very good painter. He's had a harlequin GTi-R and a harlequin VS ute and he has an immaculate '73 Celica which he did up for his first car. All of which he painted himself and all turned out very good. When you're ready to go ahead with it I could find out if he's interested in doing it if you like?
