i just spent 3 days rebuilding the front axle of my MQ patrol. i had no idea there was so much stuff in there!!! bolts and flanges and splines and seals and snap rings! there are almost as many parts in there as in a whole 120y! workshop manuals sometimes frustrate.
eg "if bearings show signs of wear replace" how the dickens do you get them off?? what it doesnt say is "destroy old bearings with a cold chisel/screwdriver, apply freeze release and destroy them some more" now i know. it drives great now, no wandering less, kickback and a total lack of hideous mechanical noises ;D
anyone got any MQ patrol parts??

I hear you Unreal, I've got a leaking seal on the front diff of my Cruiser. It's a 8 hour job for two men, and around a grand to fix!! the bloody thing can leak!! So what's everyone been up to? Wombat you got a Cherry going yet? Well I'm in the middle of the longest quick engine rebuild you have ever seen!! The throttle on the poor old Rat stuck open at the Kart track lap sprint, so we decided it was rebuild time, and after a lot of waiting, fit's and starts, hopefully it will come together next week!! I'am also in the middle of doing up an old 240Z rally car for tarmac duties, which is coming along well, bodywork is about 2/3rds done.
Anyone go to the Rally yesterday?

sounds expensive Bluerat, i spent $150 on a swivel hub kit with wheel bearings and $250 on a pair of new hubs. 2 tubes of grease ( just the grease points on the propshafts and steering used a whole tube!) and about 5L of petrol to wash all that greasy crap!

Wow, the'Cruiser sounds like right bastard, go the Datto.... they have some agricultural heritage. When it comes to grease and nipples, initially folk have the wrong impression spot the victim be glib and hand 'em the overalls and gun.....
