This is late notice I know but I've organised a day at baskerville this sunday the 4th. It's just a bunch of friends and anybody else that was interested, word of mouth type thing. I'll have my Z there for it's first run since I had the roll cage put in. There should be a good variety of cars, skylines, silvias, WRXs, maybe a commodore or falcon or two and possibly a couple of other dattos aswell. So if anybody on this forum is interested then just turn up on the day, I should be there from about 9 til 4. If anybody does come out for a play or just a look then come introduce yourself, I'll be the one with the kermit green Z as pictured on my avatar next to this post.
For those that don't know it costs $99 each to use the track for the day or $55 if you're a member of an affiliated car club. You can join a car club for $50 on the day if you choose. All you need is a car and a helmet.

It's only the car clubs affiliated with motorsports tas. I'm in the Hobart Sporting Car Club. I know Club Motor Italia is and I think the Mini car club and MG car club are aswell. I'm not sure on the NWCC, if you got in contact with your club I'm sure they would soon be able to tell you.

Sorry Boy's, NWCC is CAMS affilated, but not MS Tas affilated, LCCT is. Wouln't you need a level 2s licence?? or better to run a private practice day??

I'd like to come and give the zx a run, but it would end up a $200 day and i've got to get the motor in my orange 1200 ute, maybe next time, a bit more notice would be groovy, Vonster.

You don't need any cams license to run a private practice day. You just need a car and a helmet and they make you sign an indemnity form. And the same clubs are affiliated for both baskerville and symmons plains.
We had a great day out there. There was a WRX, STI WRX, 5ltr VS ute, LC torana, 2 X R32 Gts-T, Silvia, RB20 powerd Commodore, Early model 911, late 70's lancer with a Galant GSR engine, and my Z. Unfortunatly no other dattos but it was a very different mix of cars and fortunatly no crashes or breakages.
Maybe it's something we could organise for a club meeting sometime?

Do you have to have a certain amount of cars to keep the price down or is it "x" amount of dollars no matter how many cars you have? Vonster

it's x amount of dollars per driver no matter how many cars you have. I've never looked into how much it is to hire the track out for the day so nobody else is aloud in. It'd cost a fair bit I reckon. If a few people on this forum are keen then I'd be happy to organise a day sometime if we can agree on a date. I'd suggest later in the year when the weather is better though. We were lucky enough to fluke a good day sunday!

G'day Guys, just a "Quick"note, this sounds like a great loop hole, and trust me I love loop holes, and it is technically possible to do, but there are a few risk's....
1. You will have no Public Liability insurance, that means if you hit somebody in an accadent and they are injured, you personally, and possibly the person/people who organise the event, are liable. Signing the form covers the Track owner, not you. 2. you have no Car insurance, but that is normal, and you also are liable for any damage you do to the track. 3. If you do crash and hurt yourself or someone else, there will be no Medical in attendence, eg Ambulance or St.Johns......This can be a dangerous sport. 4.With out proper scrutineering how will you know if that person beside you ,doing 200KPH ,ball joint is not about to fail, or that he has brakes at all?
Just a few things to think about....I dont mean to throw cold water on this, it's just a couple of things to ponder. The above is why you pay all that money to CAMS....to cover your arse. I am not a big CAMS fan, but they do have there place.

Blue rat is correct about the car insurance, if you crash it it's your own problem and it's the risk you take, and yes you are taking a risk not having an ambulance there. There is also the risk that other people have poorly prepared cars or are idiots behind the wheel, however you don't have to go out on the track with other cars and if somebody comes up behind you then you can pull to the side and let them pass as most people were doing on sunday. I think you'll find your wrong about having no public liability insurance and having to pay for damage to the track though bluerat. I'm involved in karting which is run by the Australian Karting Association in conjunction with CAMS and we are covered by public liability insurance for private practice. I'll ask Dick Caplice (manager of motorsports tas) a few questions next time I see him and find out for sure. I'm still keen to do it anyway if other people on here are. It's great fun as long as everybody uses their brain.

Will do bluerat. He's got his son into karting now so I'll see him at a meeting sometime soon. If they don't have public indemnity insurance then they're not real smart. If somebody was hurt in a crash and it was found that a fault in the track caused it then their indemnity form wouldn't be worth the paper it's written on!
