I got the chance to have a chat to Richard Caplice today and Bluerat was right. People using Baskerville or Symmons Plains for private practice are not covered by personal liability insurance. Only the tracks have insurance to cover themselves not the users.
He did mention something interesting though. If we were serious about doing some track days as a club, he thinks he would be able to organise an arangement where our club was like a sub-club of the Hobart Sporting Car Club. Technically we would pay our membership fees to the Datsun Owners of Tasmania car club who would then pay the fees to the Hobart Sporting Car Club. We would them be covered by the personal liability insurance of the Hobart Sporting Car Club and have all the benefits of being affiliated with CAMS. The downside would be that we would have to run this club very professionaly. We would most likely need to have a committee, an ABN, proper lists of members, etc, etc. It would be a lot of stuffing about and not really worth it if there are only a few people on here interested in doing track days. However if there were a reasonable group of people on here that definatly wanted to do it then I think it would be worthwhile looking into.
Anyway, I just thought I'd pass the info on and see what you all thought
Cheers

Guy's, maybe the easiest thing to do is join your local CAMs club, and all meet up at a clubday, hillclimb, khana etc, or what ever we pick out. eg, LCCT clubday ay Symmons on 27th August??

Hey Davo, one of the best Touring car's ever were the mighty Volvo wagon's, and a Mazda 808(RX-3) Wagon won the 3J nationals a few years ago. I'm sure a Datsun could do better than that......... Try this website for some photo's and video www.nwcctas.org.au
