that guard looks like it was painted up in a 200B SX colour scheme. The whole car would look great like that.

Thanks for that, I better start hunting for another one then, round one has a cracked lense anyway so will just source another square one. I found a place that still does new front and rear bumpers which may come with lenses as part of it but its alot to fork out just for that....

Well quick update. There is a bit of work to do under the bonnet and on the body and the electrical but I have to start somewhere. Car is to be sand blastered in the near future but temp. sanding back of rusty parts has been done, and a rust eze product applied and then primed over just to stop some bits getting worse.
None of the electrics were working apart from one park light. Both park lights now working and both low and high beam fixed. Have ordered the conversion kit for the headlights to convert to updated globes, comes with clear lenses and also picking up some diamond vision globes which have a blue tinge. will post pics up once they arrive and are installed.
Wipers and interior heat/fan stuff now working, tail lights also working, reverse light, brake lights and dash lights are next on the agenda to get working. Shouldnt be too bad to fix, reverse lights prob havent been hooked up since converted from auto to manual maybe. Indicators not working, have bought a new flasher relay hopefully with fix the problem. Also had problems with the boot along the way, nothing major, only that I couldnt get it open! After about an hour of reaching through from the back seat finally managed to unbolt the lock and get it open. Locks will be changed from the solex locks back to new normal key locks.
Engine bay has been degreased and karchered down, new battery installed with mounting bracket. New leads purchased, may need new plugs too, however they looks faily new but were black as black when pulled them out so gave them a clean, still runs a bit rough but thats prob something to do with the fuel injection that has been added and needs a good tune, all in good time though. Catchya.

K electrics are usually ok, the heater and vent system is shit always. the windscreen wipers are also marginal. the boot latches get stiff too, ive broken a couple of keys over the years. adjusting the mechanism usually cures that but you may need to take the whole lock/latch assy out and slot the holes in ther body. the EFI system is primitive and basically you CANT tune it , it works or it doesnt. air leaks will give it trouble as will low fuel pressure but usually its timing/plugs/ign that make it "rough". lucky for you your rust is minor

Yeah rust isnt too bad... Still running rough as guts, getting new air filter and need clips to hold the airbox together, has new plugs and leads. Flushed the engine oil and replaced, old oil had chunky bits in it and was black as black! Headlights are now upgraded and glass fuse box has been replaced with updated fuse wedge block, still in the engine back atm but will eventually hide all under dash, just needed to change because was getting bad connections on the rusty terminals of the glass fuse block (lights would work etc, then wouldnt the next day) All good now, no intermittent faults! Only prob Im having now is getting reverse lights to work, cant find which wire to use off the gear box to make that work, anyone know what the gearbox would be out of and where I would get a wiring diagram seeing its a manual now....

there should only be one set of wires off the ' box for the early model years and thats the reverse switch. later model boxes may have a top gear switch as well which is towards the ?front? of the box ill have a look and check. the switch screws out and is interchangable with other 5 speeds switches if its stuffed. the wires in the body loom are red and a black for reverse switch. i have a wiring diagram somewhere ill try to get it copied for you.

Reverse switch wires are RED/YELLOW and RED from the body loom the others are for the inhibitor switch. i can at best photocopy a wiring diagram and post it to you if you pm me a home address

Ok just a few updates: All the wiring is pretty much working now, including all lights and signal wiring and all relays and fuses have been removed from engine bay and placed under dash on drivers and passenger side. Sorry about the terrible quality pics taken in the dark, gives you an idea.. The race style seats have been removed and replaced with original seats and also found a back seat that I was missing thanks to Tom! Will keep you updated.... Cheers, Matt.

It's been a while since movement on this thread (you can blame Steph and her bloody Golf for that! hehe!) I was lucky enough to take home and test these rims on the 240K. What does everyone think and can I have some opinions as to if anyone thinks they are too wide (8' and current Hotwires are only 6' wide...) Original Rims New rims compared New rims fitted I'm guessing with rims this wide, flares will need to be fitted? Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Matt

mmm, fatness
you may have some clearance issues on the front, if you have the old style brake calipers (sumitomo twin opposing pistons) then thats good but they might rub on the strut tube- maybe Later style calipers sometimes touch the inside of the rim, bit of strategic grinding
ive had this problem with tyre rub but i have threaded adjustable struts which are fatter than stock. best way to find out is to try it-with a tyre hope you like heavy steering!

Sweet, I'm running the Rota RB's on my Z. 17x8.5 fronts and 17x9 rears under flairs. I got mine through these guys: www.otomoto.com.au/They would also be able to supply you with flares if you want to go that way. The owner of this business is also doing a 240K coupe into a GTR replica at the moment so he should be able to let you know what size will fit. My vote goes to as wide as you can fit under flares
