Looks to me like the end result of 1600 sleeping with a new style Mustang and forgetting to ware protection Doesn't look too bad but I don't know about this 510R business. Shouldn't it be 510SSS?

Yeah should be SSS. Imagine if they made it in AWD with the Q series engines 2.5L turboed of cause.

::)Hmmmmph, what happened to keep it simple? Kg/kw=no frills, sort of what BMW has done to the Mini. But the thought of it is great, any budding digital artists? Love to see some more ;D

::)Hmmmmph, what happened to keep it simple? Kg/kw=no frills, sort of what BMW has done to the Mini. You're right. If they built another 1600 it would have to be simple and under 1000kg. Modern cars like the new mini are getting too heavy. Damn safety requirements

I think I'll order the sports wagon for wife'y, look's cool, and order some of the flares for my 1600, reckon they will fit (like Lego??). Not many 1600's are under 1000kg!!, my old one was 1050, without the cage! What's the Z weigh? I think Datsuns weight figures were a bit like there factory horse power figures.

240Z weighs close to even 1000kg 260z weighs 1200kg or so (2+2) 240k coupe weighs 1180kg
new 1600 would be like the new minis or beetle plastic, heavy and expensive all the things we datsun owners try to avoid!
and it wont be at all like lego!!

Not many 1600's are under 1000kg!!, my old one was 1050, without the cage! What's the Z weigh? Whether it's true or not I don't know but all the specs I've found on the web say 1044Kg. That's actually lighter than the weight stated in the manual for my 180BSSS! Wouldn't surprise me though, since the 240Z's are only 2 seaters and very basic inside. It could still be decent it they based it on the 200SX chassis, VVT SR20 (turbo for the SSS model), and kept it very basic to keep the weight down (no P/S, A/C, etc)

Size wise, the 1600 is basically the same as the Z, and weigh 950kg. Add the basic gearbox, diff, struts and brakes from the Z, and they weigh 1050kg, compare that to an Escort, Corolla, rwd Galant, or Gemini and they are NOT light !!! how much more HP do you need to make up 100plus kg?? maybe a Sr or FJ!!

I know the 73 240Z's like mine are a bit heavier than a 69 240Z. A 260Z is a lot heavier still. I guess they are kinda heavy compared to some old cars. But still very light when you're racing against Skylines I don't reckon there would be to many six cylinder cars that would beat a Z for weight? What does a 1970 GT-R weigh?

1970 gtr skyline is basically a 240k coupe with a 2 litre twin cam engine (also avaliable in japanese home market zeds) and possibly a big fat diff, whether this donk is heavier or lighter than an L6 i dont know. id say the car would still be at least 150kg more than the 240Z.
