I tried to organise a gathering but came to the conclusion.... Well see my last post on this topic. It seems most these "Datsun fans" struggle to stretch their social interaction with other club members beyond the keyboard. All these people wanting parts etc would have much more of a chance of getting what they need for their project if they meet people face to face. Does anyone know the contact details of the the Datsun sports owners club in TAS. Maybe they meet up at least once in a blue moon? I would love to check out the sss spatchcock. I remember when Phil got that car. We were 2nd year apprentices. It was traded in at our work. He managed to snap it up before I did. Good to hear it lives on!

well thats shame.
anyway, if anyone sees an orange 180b sss around, be in launi on friday and saturday feel free to say hi.
its a great car datfreak. i took it to two different mechanics to get it regoed and both times someone wanted to snach it up from me. oh and someone down in kingston. how long ago did phil get it? and dont worry, its in good hands. i might not know everything (yet) about these cars but i'm planning on looking after the old bird.

In 2000 I advertised for interested Datsun enthusiasts to meet at Bridgewater PCYC, fifteen people showed up. This was the most I have ever seen. For the following two or so years we managed four more meetings, the effort to motivate was high for poor result. A website was started then stopped, then this one started with no discussion or communication so Tasdat folded, its members were given this web site. The situation is one of selfish individualism from folk who only make an effort when they need parts or advice. Hobarts members DO meet informally and can actually attend meets, the site has a distinct Northern bias, sadly. This is what needs to be addressed.

I dont think we ever ended up argeeing on a date for the meeting did we? So its a bit hard for people to turn up if theres not a set date.
I have to be honest and say that I never even knew there was a TasDat Group before we set this one up. I just wanted to help any Datsun owners know there was others in Tas and to help each other out with finding cars or parts.
Most of the people that attended the first few Meetings where from Launceston and I travelled up from Wynyard. These meeting only really started after I posted up on a few of the Mainland Datsun websites seeing if there was any other tassie people wanting to meet up.
I honestly dont think there is more of a northern Bias on this group. Im pretty sure we have a good spread across the state.

On a friendly note. Looks like I'm bringing kermit up to Burnie for a play on the kart track next month and staying at Bluerat's ranch. Is anybody else having a run at the kart track meet? Wombat? Datsunlimited?

Sounds like a lot of fun, especially after running my kart around there over the last few years. Are you allowed to do hand brake turns around the tighter corners? I take it that its one car on the track at once for some timed sprints? Hopefully someone can post some photos.

Ah, the faint wiff of a parochial disengagement. Try for some adventure, say meet at Queenstown. But then who's Datto will actually make it that far!!! Is it not time for some bonding...... Queenstown sounds great Ricecutter, only have to travel for an hour to get there then so mine will definitely make it, when i get it finished

Allegedly there is 350+ members to this site. ;D An incentive to meet could be to discover how many are genuine enthusiasts in Tasmania there is by setting a date distant enough to negate excuses in a location separate to main urban areas. Long weekend camping and cruising, relaxing. Meeting. With the intention to thin the excess. Easy enough to rejoin. Hey it might even be fun

thats actually a pretty cool idea. IMO someone just needs to set a date and place. if people can make t great! if not oh well. all this talk of peeps saying, oh yeah i'm keen depending on the time/date/where... if someone sets something up, with enough warning for people, this could happen. check out the pics of this vic cruse. (more on the following pages of link) www.ozdat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=19777&start=210i went to the 1st buxon burger cruse and it was rad!

I don't post too much on these forums but i'd certainly be up for a datto adventure. If a set time and place was made i'd bring out the beastly 120!!

ok i just read ALL of the posts on this thread. bit of whinging, some bitching (mostly ricecutter), nth vs south (but boags is crap) ect lots of indecision and noncommitment Biggest turnout we ever had for the old TASDAT crew was at Risdon brook dam - you remember that one ricecutter, might be time for us to lead by example like we used to its close to the city, has a large carpark and BBqs. and i get to get there and go home via grasstree hill oh thats right they made it a 60 zone thoughts southerners? or will i just have to make a date

Just make a date, the main problem is though that not everyone has their datsun running at the same time as everyone else half the time, either off the road for work or project cars that are off the road for a long time That doesnt have to stop a meet up though if I dont rock up in a datsun I'll still rock up in something else to have a good chat to and about other datsun enthusiests cars.
