Hi guys, I have just joined the site because I have just purchased an Ibis Super 7 fitted with an A15 motor. I haven't picked the car up from NSW yet, but I'm going to need some help as regards the motor. It has a flowed head, webber side draught carbies etc, but I'm not familiar with Datsuns so any help will be appreciated. The car will be set up for Clasic Adelaide etc regards Mike

Basically, what can be done to the motor to get maximum hp. In standard mode the engine puts out 60kw, the one I've got has a few mods, mainly from what I can gather, head and carby . The car is very light, I'm guessing around 500kg or less, so the power to wight is probably OK, but to be competitive I need to get the most out of the engine.I could go to a bigger motor, 1600 or 1800, but I'd like to keep it as original as possible. regards Mike

Have you also had a look at the Datsun 1200 website? datsun1200.comyou will find a heap of info about the A15 engines on there. theres quite a few pepole on there that use the A15 as there race engine, Its also a good site to buy parts of to make the A15 go hard. One of the guys (dundee1000) on there gets some great go fast bits from a company (Bprojects) in japan. heres a few web sites to look at for go fast bits. Bprojects is the first one www.risebike.com/pro/all%20parts%20engine.htmlAnd the next is Pitroad. www.pitroad-ts.com/

Got the car, it's running twin Solex side draught, 1 and 4 cylinders appear to be a bit low on compression, only 130, but the car has been stored for a while so the rings may free up. It's got a Datsun dog leg 5 speed box, Vauxhall Viva front end and diff.So far we have replaced the radiator, plugs, leads, coil, condenser, rotor, brake master cylinder, brake lines and carbie filters. Plan to give it a crack at Baskerville over the next few weeks.
