Hi all
OK, im having lots of trouble trying to find an FJ20 gearbox so I am now looking for an L series box - either a L20 or even better an L28.
I now have a spare bell housing for an FJ20 and I have been told that any short L series can simply be bolted up to this.
Can some one confirm if this is 100% correct. Also, obviously the L28 is from a larger engine which in theory should be stronger than the L20, are the gear ratio's much different from the FJ?
I would prefer a g'box somewhere in Tasmania (australia post doesnt like sending them interstate apparantly)

L motor boxes dont last long behind an FJ20 turbo, A mate blew up 5 then got a skyline box. waste of good L boxes which are getting rarer. yours is N/A isnt it? short 5 speed from R30 skyline would do the trick id say. ive got one but it needs attention, synchro 3rd to 2nd (usual story) its cheap, in hobart

Hey, don't knock the L-series box. Mines handling 170rwkw.....touch wood.
I have an R30 box in good condition. I'll give you a ring this afternoon.

Hey, don't knock the L-series box. Mines handling 170rwkw.....touch wood. im not one to knock L boxes, i love all things L motor. they belong behind L motors thats all. i was appauled that my mate busted so many of them if they all get destroyed theres none left for me

How did your mate destroy so many!?!?!? I've broken one since I've had the car and that was because a nut came loose! The previous owner never has any trouble with the original 240Z box and used it for hill climbs/club days for years!
