glad to here you had a top day Wombat,as for paint, the Feed, two bucks a can!!
How did you go Scando?? I has planning a visit on Sunday, as we were in Launceston but had to come home earlier than expected on Saturday....I did have a good look at Mark Kyles Orange 1600 rally car though, It is injected, but uses a pair of Delorto's as throttle bodies and is very tidy, and I also found out the good oil on Boost's 2140, from the engine builder, by all accounts it should be a weapon!!!

Was not such a good day Bluerat.
Started off very good with pole at 63.0 (1.4 seconds quicker than anybody else!) got a good start in the first race and was doing it easy. I'd cooked the brakes in qualifying so I was just cruising around looking after them and mainting the gap over the rest of the feild. Then with a couple of laps to go I noticed a bit of green liquid on the windscreen...........And then my windscreen was covered in it! Finished the race 2nd but the head gasket was blown badly so that ended my day. It's a bit of a bugger cause it was looking like being a good day but that's motorsport. Hopefully it hasn't done any other damage so we can get it going in time for the next round. Been talking to Nev? When i left he was looking for a welder for his selecter shaft but I just looked at the results and he finished 2nd in the final so he must have got it going ok!
I thought I'd seen it all until somebody fronted up there with a newly built Hyundai Excel sports sedan powered by a 186! Unfortunatly he was having mechanical dramas and didn't make it out for the first race so I didn't see how it went.
It'll be good to see your dad's clubman out there in regularity Datsunltd, they had a good feild. Bluerat and boost should have a run too some time this year. The quickest car was a GTR XU-1 running 9's and 10's. There was a turbo 1600 but I didn't see what it had in it. He was driving it pretty easy and running 11's and 12's. There was another 1600 which I'm pretty sure was fairly standard and L16 powered.

Nothing to serious, We slipped off the road into a ditch, and put it on it's side. A new set of panels, a few suspesion bits and we are back on the road. Just a shame as it was his new car, and we won the first stage........ Bit of bad luck Scando!!! lucky it was early on in the season!! Your pace looks good for the rest of the season. What's the fix, o'ring the block? copper head gaskit?? Must catch up with Nev to swap war stories! sounds like he needs a 240K box. Now that Hyundai sounds like my sort of car!!! Regularitys sound like the go!! better look some more into it. By the way I'm doing this from Cairns FNQ.....weathers great, tan is coming along nicely!!!!

I've got one!!! but I didn't get the 50hp??? the one on e-bay is the correct Upper Mong flag colours!! Coming to the Motokhana next Sunday Wombat, anyone??? we would all love to see the Cherry in action?? It should easily dispose of an understeering blue 1600!! and will DATLTD be driving the Clubman?? Maybe Scando should bring up the new race wagon and show us all how it is done?? maybe we could get some other coastal, or not so coastal, member up to have a run?? The 180BSSS on E-bay is Mort's, you know the guy in the White XU-1 at our events? Did you have a big Easter working on the 1600 Booster??

I will be at the motokhana dont know about competing. I just spent my all my allowance on buying Datrat Daves A15 goodies.
I may have a set of extractors and a lightened flywheel to suit the A series for sale soon. anyone interested.
How about it any of you other guys/gals want to come down for the Motokhana you dont have to compete just turn up and say g'day you will have a great time just watching the others compete.
It is on the 15th April (Sunday) at the Wynyard airport. head along the Highway towards Smithton when you see the sigh for Trumps Wreckers turn there and head along that road then you will see all the cars on the air strip come to the end of the airstrip and the gate will be open to let you in.

Thanks for the pics boost, at least I know I definately wasn't missing the apex That's a bugger that I missed you. Once my day was over I decided to just go watcha bit of racing. I like the corner that you got the photos in. Very cool coming over the crest into the left hander. Other than that the track is a little boring after Baskerville. Did give the old girl a chance to stretch her legs though currently looking to do a brake upgrade on the rears. They do the job for Baskerville but simply aren't up to the job for Symmons. I'm trying to find a set of R32 GTS-T rear callipers to borrow to see if we can make them fit. The funny thing is that all the handling problems the car has at Baskerville disappear at Symmons. It doesn't understeer there and it puts the power down perfectly.......Very weird! We're going to a graphite head gasket and a little less timing Bluerat. Apparently there's signs of detonation and that's what's done the head gasket but it hasn't been enought to hurt the pistons. I might try to make it up there sunday, not to sure. I went and watched some of the khanacross on saturday and I'm keen as now. Trying to buy my old R30 back of my neighbour to have a play at the next one. It's just sitting there unregistered doing nothing so hopefully I can get it cheap.

WHAT!!!! If a clubman is NOT designed for khana's and tight track's what are they designed for??? Too hard on parts?? You are joking aren't you!!
I think I spied Phantoms new truck today! It has to be the best looking 1200 ute in Tassie!! at least the highest any way.
Glad you found the problem Scando, It's impossible to hear pinging up in the rev's, I have been paranoid about this for ages and have been thinking about buying a 'Knock-o-meter' for a while now. It's funny that your Dyno man didn't pick it up, was he wearing the magic earphones?? R30 sounds ideal for the khanacross, make sure the handbrake is tight!! I'd better pull my finger out with Black Betty and come down for a run.
As for handling I'm having your problem at the moment, initial understeer then oversteer, which is all a bit strange.....I better hit the book's.

I don't think I will make it up there this weekend Bluerat. Usual story, too much crap to get done. I'm keen to meet up at the power from the past meeting though if a few people are going to go. The guy that dynoed my car wasn't wearing the magic earphones. It must have only been very minor detonation cause it's only the head gasket that it's done any damage to. Well if taking my car to Symmons fixes the understeer/oversteer problem then maybe bringing yours down to Baskerville would have the same effect The best I did on proper timing at Symmons was 1:03.007 Datsunltd. I just feel like I'm constantly waiting for the straights to end at Symmons where at Baskerville it just jumps from one corner to the next. Much more fun I just sent you a PM with a number of a guy with a wrecked Silvia. He should be able to help with the parts, only problem is he's from down this way. If you do want to buy parts off him I may be able to bring them up to you if we all meet up at the power from the past meeting? I thought I would have bumped into Whitey at the khanacross but I don't think he was there. Getting ready for Targa I suppose. I purchased the R30 back for $200 last night! It needs the clutch fixed which I should have all the parts for anyway, weld up the diff and she'll be good to go. It also still ahs my old CD player in it which I'll put in the Bluebird. I'll let you know when the next one is on if you want to come down Bluerat. I think it's supposed to be early next month.
