So nice to be at that stage of fine tuning, Scando! No doubt with thoughts of bigger things to come, the things you are doing now will give you good returns on the clock and increase your consistency no doubt. When are you due to roll her out and go for another run? I'll be in the cheer squad ;D Would be a lot easier if I could sell the "Valiant" as Bluerat called it.
Point for mods- this thread seems to be a bit awry, might need a special one for Scando's 280z
It is nice to be at this stage of tuning the car. Most the stuff I'm doing now is aimed at making it easier to drive, consistancy and reliability. The base time for targa 2 next year is 61.0 so I can't go too much faster than I am now. It would be nice to develop the car further but base times are a great way of keeping the costs down! At least if I get the suspension, brakes, drivetrain sorted then I'll have a good base if I do decide to have a stab a targa 1 sometime. My next race will be round 1 of the super series next year which is also the aussie legends meet and will be on the 3rd and 4th of Feb. I'm gonna be there even if means selling body parts ;D
No joke, I could buy that old GTR, and have change to race it!!! We love the Saudi's in this house!!!! unlike car's, the more you race them, the more they are worth!
The thing I don't like about horses is they can buck you off any time if they choose. If car bucks you off the road there's a fair chance it's because you've stuffed up. You're right though, not as expensive when a horse bucks you as when a car bucks you!
Cool, I'm off tommorow, and will give it a go!. It had the big soak in penatrene, that was my downfall!!, I thought it was starting to move, but no it was starting to brake!!! When your a big clumsy dope like me, the ezy outs have had plenty of use over the years. One thing I've learneded is use new bolts everywhere, there cheap, and plenty of anti seize saves heartache.
So your having a run at the drift day Scando??? I'm tempted to try the drags again... but should put some funds into the new shell....and the old shell. Any gossip on the Camaro?
No, not having a run at the drifts, it's hard enought trying to keep the old girl together for a race meeting let alone drifting! Flat out trying to get it ready for the first round of the super series on the 3rd of Feb.
Might go and watch Josh do his thing if I'm not working on the car though.
So what are your plans for the new shell? Just upgrading to a better shell with the same gear or something different?
And still no word on the Camaro. Kerry hasn't been in the state but I promise I'll quiz him next time I see him.
The new shell, is this, sorry these, things I found in my back paddock. The orange one has a great little 1600 engine and driveline, but a stuffed chassis, whilst the rainbow jobbie, has a o.k body and no driveline thus a match made in heaven, I hope!! After doing the Khanacross, I thought I better have something better to compete in other than the poor old Gazelle! I've picked up an alloy cage, which should be ok for khanacross, a 68 grill and taillights, to match it all up, along with a couple of cans of matt black we should be ready to race. Ol' rainbow has a bit of a history, with a class win in the Tas rally championship, and many NWCC events, with local lagend Eric Flight driving. There's still the other shell in the shed which will be a nice road car one day.........
