I actually bought it from the UMDDT racing museum. It came with a log book and all the papers and the dash is signed by Brockofski himself! After it was crashed in the famous battle between him and Johnsonovich for the 1980 UMRS (upper mongolian racing series) it was put away and restored to what you see today. I only paid 26 Yaks for it so it's appreciated quite a bit already. The super soft Silverstones must be the ones I've heard about. Would be perfect for hillclimbs I think the yellow 1600 runs an L20 but I havne't had a good look at it so I'm not positive. All last year it would break down at high revs and sounded horrible. He seems to have it running properly now though. I just looked at the natsoft website and his best time at round 1 was 1:07.9 so I think it would be well worth you putting a legal cage in and having a run

What are you running in the 1600 boost? They have changed the rules a bit this year. To run in targa C you have to be under 3300cc. If it's turbocharged you have to times the capacity by 1.7 as per CAMS rules. This means that SR & FJ turbo don't comply.
Back to the question, the base times for targa C are 1:03.0 at Baskerville and 1:06.0 at Symmons. The base times for targa B are 1:01.0 at both tracks.
So what are you running in the 1600?

26 Yak's, man that was cheap. It is amazing what you can find in the outer escholons of the USSR, apparently there is a nice jukebox in Siberia.......Dont tell Wombat or Datsunreal but I found a Cherry station wagon and a Cedric Ute on StPetersburg E-Bay last week....I'd love to check out the UMDDT racing Museum, I here they have a race version of the Niki, called the Brockofski Nikoff SS fitted with the big 1.1ltr engine!! Now that Booster is going to run the mighty injected '68, I think I might just stick to Clubday's until mine will do a six at Symmon's, I dont think a set of brake pad's will get me six seconds a lap?? I'd better hook up the Nitro and buy some Methonal...... Booster, I've got to chase up a re-issue of a logbook for my '68, keep me up to date.... Remember the Prelude Sr20 Sports Sedan I told you about....It did a 57.5 at Baskerville at the MGCC clubday last weekend, and the driver is only 16........

hey Scando dont tell Bluerat but I am secretly shipping one of the rare Johnsonovich Datsun Cherry's twin motor AWD racing specials over. (Remember he went to this car when he couldnt beat Brockofski in the 240Z). He will kick himself whens he finds out I swapped a Nikki carby for it.

Wombat, you are now getting silly!! everybody know's the Cherry twin was no match for the NikoffSS, It wasn't until the Ford Siberian Cosworth Turbo came out that Johnsonivich was back in the game!!

If you can get close to those sort of times with a n/a 2 litre it must be a pretty good car boost. Can't wait to see it in action I think you should put a cage in and have a play anyway Blurat. You don't need to be right on the base times to be competitive. When Mick got 2nd at the first round his best time for the day was a 1:06. I think he does around 1:10 at Symmons. The only one's in Targa C running close to the base time were Tim Rushworth in his Cyborg and the 1200 Coupe. Scott Waters & Bob Hadley both broke the base time so they were put straight into Targa B. Putting a cage in should pull a second off your times too 57.5 is flying for a NA 2 litre! Do you know what they're going to do with it though? It'd be a shame to see it just run down here by itself in under 2 litre sports sedans. Now now Bluerat, the Cherry twin was a good car, absolute magic on the twisty tracks. Just didn't have the power to match the big block Nikoff SS on the more open tracks.

Yeah, a sorted 4cyl L seies will do 68's, around Symmons, and Moore'ys Mk1 Pinto powered Escort does 67's.....It would be great to step up to Open meeting's, and the Targa classes are a good thing, ie no stupid rules, and times based classes. The yellow 1600 looks like it did 1.14's last year, but playing up like you said. Hhhmmm. I'm looking forward to seeing Booster 's 1600 on the track as well, far off big fella?? Anyone going in, or going for a look at the Mountain Stages Rally on the 31st of March??? We will miss Mr & Mrs Baldric, but it looks like Mark Kyle is running his orange 1600 all year, theres a tough early Skyline being built at the moment and Nick Kingstone should be running his Pulsar GTiR Datsun, oh yeah and dont forget the best Zero car in Australia, Marty's 2.4l 1600!! As for the Honda/Nissan, they can only run at Baskerville due to gearing at the moment, but they are pretty sure they can run it at an open meeting!!! dont ask me which class? I just saw a Km/h 1600 speedo go for over $300 on e-bay, I'm just going to drag mine out of the shed, where's that armourall? ...........

Gee, all these people, and no one talking, this might fire you up! Top is Baldric in a typical pose, and the second is Marty at the Hellyer rally last year!

Scando: I don't expect to break those times was just curious what they were thanks m8 would hope to get near 69's at symmonds donk is 2140 with lots of good bits built by a datsun rally driver that knows his stuff so should be quick if i can get the right tune on it.
Bluerat: She is real close pick up the accelerator cable Friday should be able to drive it then hope to have it ready to take to the track to start tunning by the end of the weekend will look at getting out there on my next rdo if all goes to plan (fingers crossed). It starts revs does all that it should sitting still have a problem with low vacuum at idle which i can't seem to find a leak could be the 76 degree cam don't know so if anyone has run this cam and checked vacuum at idle it would be good to hear some figures cause i can only get 05Hg on the ecu should be about 25Hg to 30Hg and ecu is reading right have checked this. As soon as i lift it off idle it jumps up to 20Hg so will be interesting to see what it does driving with load on it and as my ecu runs MAP it is going to be rich at idle or lean at about 6500 and i know which one i can live with.

Sounds good Boost, we''l just have to keep working on Bluerat so that he'll come have a play with ya Pitty you can't see in the car in that bottom photo Bluerat, I'm sure the navigator would be hiding somewhere under the dash! I might have to take some notes from the rear end of that yellow 1600. At least it would solve my oversteer problems

That catch fence look's a lot like the one at the hairpin at Highcleare!! As for the Navigaor in with Marty (By the way, nice motor hey boost!), he's a fine Datsun owner, 1600 and 240Z, and is used to such poses..... Now Boost, I have such a cam fitted, I dont know much about murcury, but I know she loves the rev's..... And it should do a 69, If 2doorwhore's fat old 200B SSS can do it, a fine vehicle like a 2140 1600 should do it easy!! my slow times can be atributed to the slow driver! Love those flairs Wombat....Seen the Niki in this Months Street Machine Mag at Summernat's....Anyone go to TassieNat's, or Barrington (very sorry I missed it!!! but its a very big weekend for Boof the wonder horse, ironically at Sheffield only 5 minutes drive from this very fine hill, oh well!)
