what an awesome idea!! As a uni student I have absolutely nothing financially so really can't contribute much that way... BUT.. If a 1600 is underpowered in standard class, perhaps something like a 200Bsss could be the go? still has all IRS in the rear end, handle like a dream and with an L20 standard, it could be stroked out to 2.4 very easily for lots of power... I have such a bus sitting in my back yard. Of course it would need some work, as would any entrant we decided to build for targa, but I'd be willing to donate it to the cause... I'd rather give it away to a team targa entry than watch it rot away in my back yard because I don't have the time or money to run it.... Anyway it already has the completely worked L20 engine (2.2) recently rebuilt head, crazy cam, big valves + ports, twin 45mm dellortoes, 4-2-1 extractors, lightened flywheel, bored to 2.2L... anyway its just something to think about and could be an idea if there's no better car options... Sounds like this would be a great weapon to build a targa car out of. I think Bluerat's idea is great though. If BMS510 has a reasonably well sorted car and we helped him fund it and went as support crew then it could work quite well. I also have 2 X 180B SSS sitting in the shed doing nothing....... hmmm, maybe one day.

I agree, if we can get hold of a ready built race car, it's going to be a hell of a lot easier and cheaper to do... Just put mine up there as another option if there's nothing else - it would need a fair bit of work to get it up to scratch.. but if it does come down to that I'd be willing to donate, cause as I said, I'd rather see it doing something cool than growing moss in my back yard...

This rookie event looks the goods, but we all have to be realistic that with out big bucks to build a rocket ship you are always going to be pushing shit up hill no matter what talent/car crew you have but i for one have put my name down for 2008 more so that I can say I have done the event due to budget limits and if we get a result all the better. But if you can get a car crew why not have a crack good luck. Baldrick

Is that an expression of interest, Baldrik?
Can you give some indication at what stage you are at and is required ($) to get you onto the grid? Prolly best to PM me the later, don't want any members having a coronary.
