unfortunatly my sunny did an engine bearing on thursday. Luckily a mate had an engine I could have, just had to go get it out of a 120y. As we were doing it my dad noticed the engine number started A15, bonus It's a bit smokey and has a bit of a rattle but made my trip to work this morning much better. up the hills between huonville and hobart it was holding 100 where the A12 was back to about 80. Hopefully it keeps me going for a while.

Hey Scando, It must be hard getting out of the mighty Z into the Sunny, do you feel like walking beside it? Then again you cant beat the fuel economy. What's the go with the triple s eighteen o bee, is she a hotty or a resored classic??

I spoke to soon, the rattle in the A15 turned out to be a little more terminal than first thought and It died on my way to work this morning. Have to come up with a new plan of attack now. It does feel very strange getting out of the Z into the sunny, I just keep waiting for the boost to come on and feel somewhat disappointed when I remember it's not there If I used the Z as my road car though I think I'd struggle to keep my license and I reckon it'd use more than double the fuel the sunny uses! That's why I bought the sunny, I did have an R30 skyline as a daily driver but that started to get expensive cause I travel about 50 k's each way to work each day. So driving the sunny means I can afford to spend more on the Z The 180B SSS was my original project. I had the usual plan of a SR20DET in a nice tidy street/club car. Then I saw the Z for sale with most of the hard work done and most of the money spent for about what the engine and drivetrain conversion on the SSS would have cost me! So the SSS has been rubbed back to metal, sitting in primer awaiting panel beating ever since. I will get to it sometime, but now I think it will be more like a restored classic, probably low stiff springs and a set of wheels as the only modifications so it can be easily turned back to original.

The Nissan Forks at works have A series in them, plenty of torque!!!, I'm sure the boss wouldn't mind us doing a swap on nightshift.....They run on LPG even better for fuel economy, but not for power.
A mate of mine had a loaner 180Bsss, ie everybody loaned it, it was a weapon, stock as a rock and as cool as hell. He also had a firebreathing group G 180Bsss, so I have a little soft spot for them. although they arn't a 1600

I love the shape of the 180B SSS. I've never driven a 1600 but from what I've heard the 180B SSS just isn't quite as nice to drive even though they have a lot in common.
LPG A series, now that's talking economy! LOL

If anyone knows of any early model Pulsars with the A series (1400) engines and gearboxes please let me know.

Wombat, They are very powerful forklifts, they would 'pop' that Cherry of yours. It's also not downhill from Wynyard to the Mill!!!!!, you would have to push it up the hills. As for capacity, I dont know, how do you find out?? anything with a cam in the block is all a bit to bizarre to me.

on the side of the block next to the dizzy or above the starter roughly is the engine number, it should say somewhere there, i reckon it ould either be an a12 or an a14...

Bluerat: I was hoping you would throw the engine in the back of your wagon (do you still have the wagon?) take it there and do the swap for me.
I have given up on finding door glass for the car and will be starting on the rebuild again soon. Then we will see who gets the best times at the motorkhana. No I wont be doing any hillclimbs in it either as 1000cc's just wont cut any quick times up Highclere.

Wombat, I could put the Cherry in the back of the Cruiser,
The block has FJ24 stamped on the side of it, does this mean anything???, It has a big red rocker cover, and what looks like twin Weber copies, something called Solex, again does this mean any thing??? I dont know??? what I can tell you it that it will rev to 9000rpm!! not bad for a forklift.
Your Motokhana driving will want to be better than your Motokhana Photgraphics, man they were bad!!!! and not one of little ol' me!!! as for door glass, i can get you some for $15.......It's called 3mm perspex, works great, all fast cars use it apparently!!

Bluerat: You did tell me to just point it and take some photos. Any way whats with the prehistoric camera I thought you would have got a digital by now.
I must have been reasonable at the motokhana's as I was Tassie Class "C" Champ there one year.
Can you put a slight bend in the perspex for me as the glass has a slight curve in it.

You know me pal, old school all the way. That was the best camera money could buy in 1986, as for the perspex curves are not a problem, we could mould it around the other side. We will build you some flairs to fit over those big boy rims you have on it and make it look like a race car. You need Chuggys A15, that would liven it up.

I would love to have Chuggy's engine but the a15's are abit taller than the a14 and dont fit under the bonnet. So I have been told by other cherry owners. I would love to throw a set of flares on to one of them. I even have a nice little alloy wing of a GT Falcon to go on the back to give it that ricer/racer look.

Also I would like to finally get to meet a few of the North West members in the next week or so if possible. I have posted a possible meeting date in the meeting section of the frum.

Wombat, the a15 will fit, you just need an A9X bonnet scoop!!!!, Im sure cherry bonnets are easy to find, just cut her up. The GT wing would look a little silly with all the other fine mods we have planned, hey, just a thought, why not A9X bolt on flairs, and intergrate the front spolier as well, man it would look tuff. dont worry about the A15 you need a 500 Cube front wheel drive Caddy donk out of a stretch limmo.........and a 6/71 GM blower...torque steer might need to be looked at though?
Dattas, sorry dude I was being silly......
