G day
Just on a recon mission here. My mate most likely bent a valve in his L28 from a NQ patrol and he is planning an engine swap and was thinking of selling the old one. He revved it up in a bog hole trying to get out and we did but once we were out the engine was carrying on a bit and sounded like it was miss firing on one cylinder - we pretty sure its a bent exhaust valve as runs like its on five cylinders, it doesn't take any water and it doesn't backfire through the carby (rules out bent intake valve).
So does anyone here know what the going price is for one of these (technically is it a running engine but if you wanted to use it you would need to get a new valve or straighten it if you were desperate enough)? Anyone after one or know anyone who is?

Turns out the valve tappet arm under the cam dismounted off its little pivot which made the cylinder useless (only worked on 5).
We clipped it back on and it ran fine! However the engine was running pretty shit - all pointed to a carby problem but as the saying goes, 99% of carby problems are ignition problems and it was lol.
The points had like a half mill crater worn in one face. To quickly fix this I bent the points contact arm so it would contact on a new part of the points, gapped them and the engine runs great! (Still need to buy new points and rotor cap).
Ill let you guys know if the engine is available again as my mate is pretty keen on a V8 swap.
