This is my 1600. It has a standard L16 with 4 speed, twin webers, extractors, 2" exhaust, electronic ignition, big brakes, half cage, Monza racing seats with harnesses, battery in the boot, 14 x 6 ROH wheels with Yokohama Advans for the track and 15 x 7s for road use, did 1:17 at Symmons earlier this year and now doing 1:11 at Baskerville.
Could someone please tell me how to post pics???
Cheers

No they're custom brakes.
She needs a bit of work in the handling dept, it gets bump steer and does nose dives a little bit under brakes, but apart from that it's pretty good...
Both those times were on road tyres too.. i got down to 1:12.20 with the Advans....

Was that 12's at Symmon's?? a pretty good time for a near std 1600!! Good to see. Must be happy with the Advan's. Bump steer is a major prob with the O'l 1600 and takes a bit of surgery to fix

pic is a bit slow.. the joys of dial up...
Will need to do the whole lot, front and rear suspension wise...
And yep, will take a look at your 1600..
This is about my fifth 1600, including a wagon, and it's my 14 yr old son who gets those times out of it, not me unfortunately..... he started this thread for me, then I took over...

yep, they're addictive alright!
Nah, first go... bought the car to do club days in (on the track), but had my son comandeer it.... and he's got it going nicely... looks like I might have to retire....
Used it for motorkhanas, but it's set up for the track and not for those...

your 16 looks awesome....
And khanacrosses are great... we have one coming up down here in June... might use my bomby 16 for that one... did I mention I have another two... only one is complete though.. need a floor handbrake in it though...
Did a hill climb in a leyland mini 1100 last year - very slow, but fun...... bought the 16 for leg room cause the mini is a little restrictive when you're almost 6ft tall....

Yep mini's cute but small!!!, are you in Hobart?? or going to the MSCCT Khanacross at Powranna?? I've often thought of trying a Stanza handbrake in mine, but have purchased a Hydrolick which will work a treat! when hooked up.
I am also doing up a roadie for doing the odd cruise day etc.a set of numberplates will be handy!

That's a bloody good baskerville time for a lightly modified 1600. There were guys out there on sunday with R32 Gts-T's that could only just manage that! There was even some guys I didn't know that showed up in a 5litre VP wagon that was doing around 1:20

i did a 1:19 in our mini 1100 which is stock standard apart from mags. i wont be going in the mscct event, im in the southern part of the state, i went to a driving course at baskerville a couple of weeks ago and got my times down to 1.11's on the road tyres.
we are in the process of making a hydraulic h/brake for the bomb 1600 at the moment using a corolla ke55 lever and a 1600 clutch master cylinder, anyone going in the mgcct kanacross on the 25th at kellyfield?
cheers

The hot ticket for the handbrake is a landrover master cylinder, but I have forgot'n the reason why, hope that's some help.
I'll be close to Kellyfeild, well not really, on the 24th, as the Mt Lloyd Rally is on, I've got to shoot back to Burnie for dayshift on the 25th, other wise I would pop out. There is nothing better than blowing MG's away in a cruddy old Jap car!!!! they hate it. best of luck and look out for toffy pom's.
