It wouldn't happen to be the book from Brock Racing Enterprises would it? I just noticed you made reference to the "Works BRE Z" in that earlier post. My dad has told me all about this book by them that they had at warwick motors when he did his apprenticeship there in the 70's. He said it was amazing.

It could be??? no it's called 'how to hotrod and race your datsun' and no you can't change a Bluebird into a 32 HiBoy, but if you cut the roof of a 1200 coupe, pulled off the guards and bonnet, slotted in a flathead V8 with 6 Stromberg 97's, and sqwinted, a lot, it might look like a 1927 model T roadster?? I think... In all seriousness, it's a top read, and goes through the BRE 510 and 240Z. It does not tell you too much, just what part number to buy, if your in the US.. It as published in the 70's and might be the book your Dad saw, but there are others...

It could be the one, not sure. He said it actually belonged to a guy he worked with. Apparently it had all this stuff on engine modifications and how to do them and then how much power at different revs it will create. He said it had heaps on suspension, etc too.

Sound's like you have landed on a goldmine there Dattas ol' boy. The hotrod book is great until you get down to the real nitty gritty, and what some real info, and it say's buy Compition part no xxxxxyyyyyyzzzz which will do the trick, bit of a tease really, when you want to know what the spring poundages are etc etc, but there are some very good tip's in it.
I saw Z car that was turned into a Dodge Viper in a mag the other day, Maybe you could do the same Scando and run nations cup???

Sounds like a plan, I might need the Viper V10 aswell instead of just the body kit though Did it look as bad as the Ferrari kits for the Z's? I just don't understand why anybody would do that to a decent car!

On the cheap, maybe you could get 2 Audi 5 Cylinders, find a decent machinist, and join them together? I'm sure Greg Crick wouldn't notice the difference??? as you went sailing past. The worship of the mighty 250GTO will do strange things to a man and his machine. Would putting Webers and Pirellis on it make it more authentic?

Or maybe I could just get 10 kart engines and weld them together. How good would a 2-stroke V10 sound at 15000RPM.

Now you are talking Scando...2 strokes rule...make mine a Rotax. 10 CR500 engines would only give you 5 litres, back in the early eightys Macio built a 760cc two stroke single, this is what I would use. I'll have a look on E-bay.......... I've got 2 Bultaco 360's this would be a start, but after restoring the bikes I would find it hard to cut them up! I have put a bit of thought into this over the years, the only problem is where to fit 10 expansion chambers? maybe you should build a Datsun powered Kart??

Scando I will give you two of my cherry engines (988cc) and gearboxs one in the front one in the back and that way you could make it AWD and compete in the under 2L class.
Dont underestimate the power of the Cherry.

Why not go all out and have one for each wheel wombat? Bluerat: 10 Rotax Max engines would still only be 1.25 litres. A 280hp 1250cc V10 would be pretty impressive though the 760cc jobs sound a bit better. At least then you would have the capacity of the viper. Datsun powered gokart sounds good. If I could build a kart to mount the engine out of the Z then I reckon a power to weight of 1kw/kg would be achievable. That would definatly stir Cricks viper up. Would just have to find somebody with a severe mental illness to drive it though cause even I'm not that nuts
