Booster, The Muscle car masters is well worth a look if you want a mainland trip next year. Eastern Creek is a fantastic track, and they have all the 'N's' running ie A,B and C along with the Group C's and all the cool stuff on display and doing demo laps. Excellent event. There also looks to be a very similar event being held at Symmons next year, with all of the above, which is a bit closer to home. They will be most likely be looking for club's to do display's......I'll keep my ear out. Scando, did you see me on the tv waving in the crowd, I was the one with the coat on??

Scando, I was just reading about your dadda's boss, doing 61's at Symmons and 57's at Baskerville in 1982 in a rarther trick looking XU-1. Mind you Brocky and Jone'sy were doing 51's

He said the first time he took that Torana around baskerville it was on slicks and he did a 63 which he was very happy with at the time. He couldn't believe it when I told him I did 63's on my first go around baskerville on semi-slicks. He was even more shocked when he come to a race meeting and saw the front runners in targa class doing 57's and 58's on semi-slicks! But like you say it seems very poor when the front guys from the mainland were doing 51's before I was born!

Not exactly sure, I wasn't born so I never saw the car! First of his race cars I ever saw was the Supra. I'd say there's a fair chance that the Torana would have had a Chev V8 in it though.

Now come on Scando, being not born is no excuss, I expected better of you!!, You might be able to answer me this though? How long are your........front suspension arms?? Datsunreal might be able to tell me the same for a 240K as well?? I have an extra long one in stock, and I dont know what it is off?? It looks and line's up with a 1600/180B one, but is about 30mm longer.

I'll measure them next time I'm working on the car and let you know. I'll measure an R30 skyline one if I can find one kicking about the shed too.
And I'll try to remember to ask dad what the Torana had in it.
I heard an interesting rumor on the weekend. Darrel Wilcox told me that Kerry has bought a $400,000 Camaro historic race car. I haven't been able to find out for sure whether or not it's true yet though.

Man, there must be good money in boat engines!!! I met a guy at Eastern creek, from Hobart, with a Camaro, That could possibily be worth that much, only on of it's type in Oz with the required logbook!!!

240k front arms are different from 1600/180b ones as they attach inside the sides of the x member instead of hanging off the back of it, i dont think they interchange(?), the bolt spacing on the end of the radius rod is different (1600 and early 180b) or the same (some late 180b) grovelling in the carpark with a steel ruler they are 390 to 400mm long. cheap camber if you can get it to work.

That money isn't from the marine business, trust me!
That could be the car then. I'll be eager to find out if it's true or just a rumor.

Thank's Datsunreal, I wonder what it's off?? I scored it from a pile of spares my brother had, from his mighty 2.4 eighteen oh bee, he said it was a standard 180B, but I got hold of a pair, and they were the same as a 1600?? who know's. As for camber I already have more than they can provide!! I was thinking of my roadie.
The Camaro from Hobart was half way through a rebuild, for four hundred, I would hope it is finished !!!

The only thing I can't understand if he has bought it is why he wouldn't just build one himself. He rebuilt the ZX himself and it's an absolute work of art. Although the rare log book for that type of Camaro you speak of could be the reason.

If it was raced and log booked, before 72, it can run as it was raced. Back then they had less restrictive rules, so therefore they are faster, with bigger rubber etc.....thus the big buck's. The Mustang running at Easterm creek, was over half a lap quicker than the newer built car's. Mind you it had won three Aust. Touring car champ's in the 60's....hope this clear's it up, from your helpful Dr.Bluerat, master of all useless info and other assorted crud!! Mind you it might be a completly different car.

Bluerat: Kerry's torana still had the 202 in it but very highly modified. Apparently the whole car had the best of the best equipment in it, no expense spared.

That is a serious 202!!! The poor thing is proberly sitting in a shed somewhere going to waste? Funny how times change, you can now buy something out of Japan for ten grand, put a cage in it and some tyres and go just as fast......
Did you see Nev's times at baskerville last weekend!!
